Expanded has a rich history of geotechnical experience and knowledge: our piling ability dates back to 1825.
Core techniques
Our core techniques bring together specialist piling solutions designed to meet the demands of complex projects with safety, precision and efficiency. From CFA piling and rotary bored piles to plunge columns, sheet piling and ground improvement, we offer the expertise and capability to deliver reliable foundations across a wide range of ground conditions.
CFA Piling
Expanded Piling offer continuous flight auger (CFA) piling reaching depths of up to 36m.
Rotary Bored Piles
Expanded Piling as a leading UK piling contractor can construct rotary bored piles up to 2.4m in diameter and to depths in excess of 60m.
Ground Improvement
In addition to Displacment & Soil mixing (Deep & Shallow), we successfully installed Vibro Cast In-Situ (VCIS) piles for a project in the Water Industry
Plunge Columns
To aid a top-down construction sequence and the temporary works of a basement construction, columns can be installed into piles.
Sheet Piling
Expanded Piling are able to offer sheet piling as a design and installation option.
Restricted Access
Our teams have knowledge and experience of installing piles with as little as 3m headroom.

Kelly bar servicing
The success of any Piling contract comes down to a number of factors, one of the most important is the equipment used. Expanded Piling with Select Plant Hire undertake Kelly Bar servicing on all bars prior to their use. As part of the service a full video is taken as the bar is fully extended and all joints inspected. We conduct this service on all of our own Kelly bars, however this service is also available to external clients in the wider Piling industry.
Pile extraction
Expanded Piling has developed a unique method for extracting existing piles in urban areas where new structures clash with existing foundations. This system is less disruptive than traditional coring, avoiding noisy hour restrictions and providing programme certainty. It effectively addresses the increasing need to manage existing piles in urban projects and has been successfully applied in numerous projects over the years.
Operator training
Training our people and supporting the growth of our colleagues is key to Expanded Piling. Within our Grimsby Depot we are able to train operators to gain A48 Piling Rig CPCS status. Our approach includes training operators in the equipment in a controlled environment under the supervision of our experienced operators.
