The Canary Wharf Crossrail Station project showcases pioneering engineering with part of its structure built below water at West India Quay’s North Dock. Expanded, as trade contractor, utilised innovative methods such as 'silent piling' and DfMA to ensure minimal disruption and efficient construction. The station features robust structures to withstand ship impacts, constructed using anchored cofferdams and modular offsite techniques. The project prioritised environmental considerations, reusing excavated material and reducing CO2 emissions via barge transport. Recognised for technical excellence at the Ground Engineering awards in 2014, the project delivered programme certainty and effective risk management.
