  • 27,702 cubic meters of concrete delivered
  • 2,100 tonnes of rebar installed

Expanded Piling have been present on-site since early 2023, mobilising our first rig in September 2023 to undertake piling trials. We then mobilised an additional four rigs throughout the project, bringing the total to five rigs operating concurrently across both Littlemore House (LMH) and Littlemore Brook (LMB).

Our scope included:

  • Installation of rotary bored secant wall piles (LMH & LMB)

  • Installation of rotary bored bearing piles (LMH & LMB)

  • Installation of a temporary sheet pile wall (LMB)

  • Installation of CFA bearing piles (LMB)

  • Six preliminary pile tests (3x tension, 3x compression)

  • Two working pile tests

Across both LMH and LMB, we have successfully installed:

  • 2,111 piles of varying diameters

  • 39,100 linear meters of drilling depth

  • 27,702 cubic meters of concrete delivered (4,170 wagons)

  • 2,100 tonnes of rebar

“One of the largest basements Expanded Piling have constructed, in challenging ground conditions due to the interbed limestone and hard bands unique to this area of Oxford. Being able to undertake trials prior to the main works enabled us to get a greater understand of the ground conditions and ensure we are fully prepared for the main works, something we encourage projects to consider moving forward. In collaboration with Expanded Structures, we successfully managed the programme and ever evolving logistics to deliver a high class piling scheme.”
